You Let Him In Page 25
Desperate for an end to my problems. All I wanted was to make a new life, a better life, for my wife and son. My family. My world.
A Letter From J A Andrews
Hello Reader,
Thank you for taking the time to read my novel, this is my second thriller, and another thank you if you’ve now read both.
I couldn’t begin to imagine when I started planning this novel early September 2019, that by the time it was completed in June 2020, I’d have spent three months in lockdown due to a pandemic. In that time also, my debut, Mummy’s Boy, was published, I have moved house, reached the age of 40, holiday’s cancelled, a wedding postponed, and had to adapt so quickly to a new way of working from home. I’ve definitely gained weight! I hope that you and your families are well and keeping safe too.
You would have read that this book is set in a town called Westbridge, with included location names such as Taverton and Looe. Looe is a real location in Cornwall, and I used to clean caravans every Saturday on some holiday parks there over 20 years ago, it’s a beautiful little place with a small beach, but cleaning was tough. Westbridge is a fictional town I named in this story because Looe is actually west of the Tamar Bridge that links my hometown of Plymouth to Cornwall. Taverton doesn’t exist either and is inspired from the river Tavy, not far from where I lived when I was writing the first draft.
If you enjoyed my novel, it would be great if you could leave some feedback and a rating for me as a review. It doesn’t have to be extensive, unless you want to, but a few lines if you could spare the time, and a shout-out on social media if you’re feeling generous. I appreciate your support, and it feels like we’re in this together with my writing journey – so thank you.
Have a great day,
J A Andrews

Having a book published is a real team effort. I’ve learnt about so much in the publishing process, and because of that I owe a great deal of thanks to everyone who has been involved with the publication of this, my second thriller. Keshini Naidoo and Lindsey Mooney at Hera, who are absolutely fantastic publishers that work hard to support their authors, and for answering my random questions. Keshini deserves an extra special thanks too as my (very hands on) editor for the structural edits, I’ve really appreciated the feedback. Thank you also to Dushi Horti, as copy-editor for helping me iron out the kinks. Thank you to Andrew Bridgmont for ensuring that before publication it is as error free as humanly possible, and to Lisa Brewster for the striking image. One broken glass, while the other is standing, cracked and half full (or half empty if you prefer), for this story it is perfect. As soon as I saw it, I loved it and it could relate it instantly to Jenny’s journey.
I also have to thank those who have heard me rambling on about the plot during the whole time I was writing. Thank you to Peter Kewley, who has provided words of wisdom, offering advice to stay positive – and keeping me entertained with his bad jokes. Thank you also to my boyfriend Gary Mullen who initially inspired some of my ideas for the witness. If you ever met him in person he would tell you I steal all of his ideas, but I don’t. I just stole his first name instead for the character. He doesn’t mind.
A huge thank you to my mother, Susan Barry, my sister, Sarah Parker, and my little nephew, Ryan Reyes for their continued support in everything that I do…
…and also to Google, for pointing me in the right direction with search results that make me appear like a serial killer!
Thank you to everyone xx
